About Zane

Zane Gustafson is a writer, researcher, analyst, and strategist focused on solving the most significant challenges facing contemporary America. He believes that the entire political system is broken, and that the only way to build real American democracy is through systemic reform, which he explains in his first book, Polemic for Democracy.

Our Country is Sick

polemic (n): an aggressive or controversial argument.

Zane began writing Polemic for Democracy in February 2023, after years of studying America’s deep political dysfunction. He published it one week before the 2024 election, at a moment when democracy itself hung in balance. Since then, the downward trajectory of American democracy has continued, and the rise of tyranny has only grown more visible.

Polemic for Democracy doesn’t just diagnose our problems. It proposes real solutions to build real American democracy, where every vote actually matters.
